    Robin Hood: A Pantomime

As we put the finishing touches on 'The Unexpected Guest', there is lovely music coming from our second rehearsal room these days...

Rehearsals have begun for our holiday show, 'Robin Hood: A Pantomime'

If you're new to Theatre, here's a good introduction to the Art of Pantomime from Wikipedia.

    Description by Director Allan Haynes...
"Robin Hood" is a traditional pantomime designed to be enjoyed by all the family. Written especially for Peninsula Players, it is based on the rivalry between the legendary folk hero and the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

Many of the characters will be familiar although some of them may not be exactly as you imagined them. There will also be some characters that you might not have expected to meet in Sherwood Forest.

Various cunning plans will be required plus the assistance of a witch and the participation of the audience to ensure that good will eventually triumph over evil. However, as with all pantomimes, the plot is secondary to the music and humor.

Well, congratulations to Faith, who did, and did, and scored a free pair of tickets to see Agatha Christie's 'The Unexpected Guest'

You can do the same...keep your eyes open!

    What is Theatre to you?

To finish the October Newsletter, a few observations on Theatre from folks you may recognize...

"I grew up in Queens and New Jersey. I started doing children's theatre when I was seven to get out of school because I didn't fit in"
    - Jesse Eisenberg

"I live halfway between reality and theatre at all times. And I was born this way"
    - Lady Gaga

"I think theater is powerful. The best experiences I had in the theater are more powerful than the best experiences I had in movies"
    - William H. Macy

"I have so much respect for people in the theatre. You can't do 10 or 15 takes. It's all live. It's like life in motion"
    - Puff Daddy

"I wore goofy hats to school and did musical theatre. Most people thought I was a dork. But if you have a sense of humor about it, no one can bring you down"
    - Zac Efron

"I wouldn't say anything I ever did in film would be something I'd use the word proud about. I've done better work in the theatre"
    - John Malkovich

    Cheers,

    Rem
